The language we use everyday shapes our reality. This includes our internal dialogue—the way we speak to ourselves about ourselves and our experiences—as well as how we communicate with others. As a yoga teacher, what we say in class and in other forums has a profound impact. Words and phrasing can influence who feels welcome and included in a class and how much personal agency participants feel to make choices.

As yoga teachers, it is an honour and privilege to have students place their trust in us to follow our guidance. It is our responsibility to choose our words very carefully in order to ensure the language used empowers and facilitates growth.

This 30-hour module helps you reflect on the current language you use as a teacher and uncover opportunities to refine your communication to avoid causing exclusivity or a loss of agency in your classes. You will be offered progressive and ongoing ways to refine how you guide and offer information so that everyone feels welcome and on a level playing field, feeling empowered to make confident personal choices that are right for them.

This module can be taken as standalone Yoga Alliance CE hours or as part of the Power & Alignment® certification. More information on the full certification can be found here.

 
 

CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

This 7-day, 6-night training retreat is set on a tea plantation, surrounded by tropical forest in a haven of tranquillity just 20 minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage site Galle Fort and the Indian Ocean in Southern Sri Lanka. This family-run, quaint boutique hotel features traditional architecture, beautifully maintained gardens, and rooms offering views of nature, combining modern elements with traditional Sri Lankan design. Ayurvedic massages, tour arrangements, and concierge services are available. Dining options prioritise fresh, organic, and healthy ingredients served close to their natural state.

Training days: Sunday – Thursday, 8 – 12 December, 9.00am-6.30pm

Please note that this is a gross schedule for the training retreat. A detailed schedule will be provided to all registrants in an info pack.

For flight planning, please arrive well before 5.30pm on 7 December for the group welcome. The training retreat closing circle is on 12 December. Breakfast and lunch are provided on 13 December but you may choose to depart anytime on this date. Do consider in your planning that the resort is a 2-hour drive to and from Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB).

The skill of holding space effectively is one of the most potent tools for nurturing supportive environments in diverse personal and professional settings. It is, however, rarely formally taught or explored in training programmes.

This 50-hour module is suited for anyone, regardless of whether you are a yoga teacher, who is intrigued by the art and science around holding space, examined through the perspectives of yogic wisdom, contemplative science, and psychological insights. Notably, this training appeals to yoga teachers seeking guidance to become more empowered and effective space holders, as well as to hone their authentic voice, enabling them to share their knowledge and experience with confidence and clarity.

This training retreat unfolds over 10 days and 9 nights in the picturesque Kingdom of Cambodia. Situated on the outskirts of Siem Reap and just minutes by car from the UNESCO World Heritage Site Angkor Wat, the resort is a beautiful boutique establishment—the only wellness resort in this charming town.

Resting Conversation® Level 2 Teacher Training is suited for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding and experience of restorative yoga. You will learn the essential knowledge and skills to create conditions for deep relaxation that help to reduce fatigue, experience ease, and function better physically, mentally, and emotionally.

For yoga practitioners, this training provides insight into the practice of Resting Conversation®. For yoga teachers, it equips them with the knowledge, skills, tools, and confidence to teach restorative yoga through the lens of an approach that has garnered international attention over the years.

Completion of Level 1 is a prerequisite for Level 2 training. Completion of Level 2 is required in order to become a certified Resting Conversation® teacher. More information on the full certification can be found here.

  • The physical, energetic, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies as well as associated principles of working with restorative yoga

Resting Conversation® Level 1 Teacher Training is suited for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding and experience of restorative yoga. You will learn the fundamental knowledge and skills to create conditions for deep relaxation that help to reduce fatigue, experience ease, and function better physically, mentally, and emotionally.

For yoga practitioners, this training provides insight into the practice of Resting Conversation®. For yoga teachers, it equips you with the knowledge, skills, tools, and confidence to begin teaching restorative yoga through the lens of an approach that has garnered international attention over the years.

Completion of Level 1 is a prerequisite for Level 2 training. Completion of Level 2 is required in order to become a certified Resting Conversation® teacher. More information on the full certification can be found here. This training can also be taken as a standalone CET.

Yin & Restorative Yoga: Same Same, But Different?

On the surface, yin and restorative yoga may seem to be two sides of the same coin. Because both practices are relatively gentler, slower paced and quieter than other dynamic styles of yoga, they are commonly misperceived to be the same and referred to interchangeably. This two-part workshop illuminates the key similarities and differences of yin and restorative yoga through short lectures and full experiential sessions. Resting Conversation® Masterclass, Berlin, Germany

Resting Conversation® is a practice that focuses on being more and doing less. It has roots in the psychological science of relaxation, mindfulness practices, and restorative yoga. Resting Conversation teaches deep relaxation and calms the nervous system. The practice builds awareness on where we hold tension and creates fuller and deeper breaths to soften the tension. With repeated practice, the mind and body becomes better and better at finding this deep relaxation state so that we can come back to it whenever we want or need to.

The masterclass will provide insight into why this style of yoga is beneficial to our bodies, minds, and lives. You will learn the Resting Conversation set of tools to create conditions for the body and mind to experience relaxation, get familiar with how to set up each pose that feels right for you, learn to feel signs of discomfort and how to make yourself comfortable in rest.

Excellent for stress, general tension, exhaustion, and those looking for deep relaxation. It does not matter if you are a seasoned yoga practitioner or have never tried yoga. No yoga experience is necessary. We welcome you to come home to yourself.

Power & Alignment® Masterclass, Berlin, Germany

Power & Alignment® (P&A) is a hatha vinyasa yoga practice that draws from our innate strength to create a harmonious relationship with the whole being – mind, heart, breath, body, and community. A synthesis of heart-opening yoga practices and psychological science, P&A goes beyond intelligent sequencing and yoga postural alignment and focuses on developing our well-being. Based on a curriculum approach, P&A incorporates a set of essential components, including an embodied practice through specific key alignment principles. These components evoke a mindful and uplifting effect, guiding students towards a “work in.” Through repeated practice, the intention is for practitioners to feel empowered to navigate modern day living with an underlying sense of peace and joy. This masterclass will provide insight into an embodied practice of the P&A key alignment principles across the different classes of yoga postures. It will help discover our own optimal alignment from the gross outer form to the highly refined inner quality.

SESSION 1:

Saturday 27 July, 1000-1200

Considerations for Core and Wrists

The first part of the workshop focuses on how to better work from your centre as well as work with the wrists in a way that is safe and effective regards to your asana practice.

You will learn to:

  • Strengthen the core and stabilise the spine in yoga practice.

  • Identify key techniques to decrease repetitive stress in the wrists in weight-bearing postures.

  • Articulate and integrate the core areas of the body in a variety of postures.


SESSION 2:

Sunday 28 July, 1000-1200

Considerations for Hips and Legs

The second part of the workshop provides a clear and modern understanding on how to work the legs and hips in a safe and effective way that enhances your practice.

You will learn to:

  • Strengthen the legs and create greater balance in the legs, hips and torso in yoga practice.

  • Consider ways to work safely with the joints in the hips and legs.

  • Articulate and integrate the hips and legs safely in a variety of postures.
